Transitional Kindergarten (TK) & Expanded TK

Transitional Kindergarten, or TK, is year one of a two year Kindergarten program. TK provides an early childhood education program that builds a bridge between preschool years and traditional Kindergarten. With increasing academic demands and structure in Kindergarten, some parents are aware that their child may not be ready for the traditional Kindergarten program. In addition, beginning in the 2015-2016 school year, a Transitional Kindergarten Expansion Program (TK-Ex) for younger children will be offered at selected schools.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

As we experience some of the most challenging times in modern history, I want to take advantage of this new site to share with you what we are doing to face these unprecedented times together as a community.

We recognize that the many challenges that we will face may seem as insurmountable difficulties, but  with patience, dedication, and a positive attitude we will, no doubt, conquer them.

LAUSD is working diligently to support all our students and their school communities to make this temporary situation as little disruptive to every child’s learning as possible.

In this new scenario we ask you to support us in this learning process, so support your child’s teachers , and every member of the staff as we try to bridge the difficulty of providing quality instruction from a regular classroom setting to a web based system.

Our teachers have been collaborating to create an accessible method for students to connect with them personally and daily to provide the most valuable resource that any school has, the direct instruction from a teacher.Teachers will support your child as we want to extend that support to you as well. Our web page will become the meeting point for you and my team to clarify and assist you with  your questions and concerns. Please expect to see the opportunity to meet with us face to face regularly.

These may be scary times for adults and generate questions, fears and insecurities amongst our children. We want to take an active role supporting you with the wellbeing of you and your child. Please see all the available resources that will be at your disposal posted in our web page and use them if you need them.

Our children are our most valued treasure, they are the project of our lifetimes and we want to channel their intelligence, strength, and resilience in these challenging times to a near future full of success and excellence. Together we will do it, after all, Pumas roar in the face of difficulty!

Luis Gadea,

Principal
